Interoperability with Other Protocols

How does Aztec plan to integrate with other DeFi platforms while maintaining privacy?

Aztec will have L2 native defi protocols that are similar to defi protocols that you are already familiar with on other blockchains (e.g. swaps, borrowing/lending), but able to provide better privacy for users. Depending on the application, different levels of privacy will be possible. For example, you can’t built an AMM where the size of the token pools are private, as that information is required to calculate the price of a token. Or at least I don’t know how to build private AMMs, or their private correlate, yet. But using these on Aztec, users will be able to hide their account addresses and balances and only reveal the tokens and amounts being swapped.

Aztec apps will also be able to plug into existing defi protocols on Ethereum using portals (bridges). You can find more information about how portals work here. Here is a detailed example of how you could implement an Aztec application that takes users’ tokens on Aztec and swaps them on Uniswap on Ethereum.
