Aztec Africa Community growth and building

Creating the Aztec Africa Community + Organizing a Regional Meetup

Overview
As the Aztec Protocol keeps accelerating globally for its emphasis on privacy and zk-powered smart contracts, it’s necessary to carry this momentum into Africa — a Web3-rich continent full of budding developer talent and expanding appetite for novel blockchain innovations.

This plan is a plan to launch and grow the Aztec Africa Community, starting with coordinated community-building and ending in an in-person meetup event to create awareness, education, and cooperation.

Objectives

Establish a grounded and active Aztec presence in the key African regions.

Educate local developers, builders, and enthusiasts about the Aztec Protocol, Noir, and zk privacy.

Grow collaboration, content creation, and technical engagement with Aztec’s ecosystem.

Host the first Aztec Africa Meetup as a call to action for local adoption and participation.

Why Africa?

Dramatically growing population of tech-savvy youth and blockchain engineers.

Increasing demand for privacy-preserving use cases fueled by financial, political, and social use cases.

Untapped opportunities to connect Aztec’s zk infrastructure with local DeFi, identity, and governance solutions.

Proposed Activities

  1. Community Building & Awareness

Create Aztec Africa social channels (Telegram, Twitter, etc.).

Run education-led campaigns (Noir tutorials, zk workshops, dev guides).

Find and enable local ambassadors at universities and tech hubs.

  1. Aztec Africa Meetup (Q2/Q3 2025)

Host a physical event in one of the big Web3 cities in Africa (Lagos, Nairobi, Accra, Cape Town).

zk basics sessions, Noir building, privacy in Web3, and Aztec use cases.

Spotlight local builders and early adopters in the Aztec ecosystem.

Swag, networking, and ecosystem opportunities.

Call to Action

We need feedback, support, and cooperation from the Aztec community and core team to continue evolving this initiative.

What are your thoughts on having region-based communities?

Do we have grants or support systems we can tap into to get this project started?

Would you be willing to mentor, give talks, or sponsor the meetup?

Let’s bring Aztec closer to Africa, and Africa closer to Aztec.
