Title: Aztec Explorer | explorer.aztec.org

Contact Details: Email:lovedret@6block.com janli@6block.com ; TG handle: @Biubiubird @hairtail21

Summary

explorer.aztec.org will provide comprehensive tracking data of Aztec to facilitate queries of block data and contract interactions and other relavant on-chain events. Leveraging our extensive experience in developing block explorers across various ecosystems, especially in zkp technology, we will develop a more stable stack and implement a robust set of features designed to enhance user and developer experience. Aztec users will enjoy a smooth experience of searching and viewing their on-chain activities without compromising their privacy.

Estimated Start and End Date

  • Start Date: July 1, 2024

  • End Date: Sep 30, 2024

  • ETA Launch: beginning of October

Team

We are a group of developers focusing on blockchain infrastructures like explorer, ZKP mining, and software optimization for zk-SNARK provers.

Portfolio:

  1. Filfox, blockchain explorer for Filecoin blockchain (grant from Protocol labs): https://filfox.info/en

  2. aleo.info, blockchain explorer for Aleo blockchain: Aleo.info: https://aleo.info/

  3. IronFish public rpc provider, (grant from Iron Fish foundation), works as decrypting and spendable utxo indexing service. Same as the ViewKey feature needed in Aztec.

  4. ZK.Work, leading ZKP mining pool focused on ZKP proving performance.

Tech Stack:

  • Frontend: Vue

  • Backend: Node.js (Or Rust if needed)

  • Database: PostgreSQL/Mongodb + Redis

  • Tasks:

  • Familiar with Aztec network doc and codebase

  • Re-development of Aztec network interface if necessary

  • Network fetching layer design

  • Backend database design

  • UI design

Milestone 2: Basic Implementation (by August 3 1 , 2024)

  • Objective: First version of explorer with blocks/transactions

  • Tasks:

  • Backend chain syncing service

  • Backend network layer development for restful/websocket request

  • Frontend development

  • Deployment on Aztec local network

Milestone 3: Testnet Deployment and More Features (by Sep 3 0, 2024)

  • Objective: More features implemented and continuous version iterative development

  • Tasks:

  • Deployment on Aztec testnet

  • Contract decode feature development

  • L1/L2 interaction feature development

  • More statistics data about Aztec network in chart

Milestone 4: Mainnet (TBD)

  • Objective: Migrate to Aztec mainnet

  • Tasks:

  • Migration of indexer

  • Migration of backend

  • Migration of frontend

Grant amount requested:

We propose $45,000 in tokens for the grant to manage the full development and operation of Aztec.info.

  • $35,000 for developers, 2 backend + 1 frontend

  • $5,000 for designer

  • $5,000 for infrastructure

Grant budget rationale:

The requested funds will be allocated to cover expenses for a team of specialized developers, including experts in back-end development, front-end CSS, and full-stack development, as well as professionals skilled in setting up and managing indexers for data querying. Additionally, the budget will support design and infrastructure costs, ensuring we deliver a high-quality and robust block explorer.

Beyond the grant, our team is committed to investing additional time and resources to long-term sustainability, including offering RPC SaaS services and paid API access to our developed indexer. With strong support from the Aztec community, we are also eager to expand into other promising areas like developing a Viewing Key tool, which is already a case of IronFish rpc provider, and providing access to node data (already a case on filfox and aleo.info). We’re looking forward to making it happen for Aztec.
